This pages describes how I installed RedHat Linux v5.2 on my Sun SPARCstation 1. This was done in 1999, and I've not tested with any new OS on it, so the info might be a bit obsolete.
To help me I used an Intel PC that was already running Red Hat Linux v5.2
(kernel 2.0.36). This machine was set up as TFTP-server and the SPARCstation was booted
from this one.
I also downloaded the RedHat Linux for SPARC-processor on this machine and used ftp-based
installation. I could of course have used NFS-based installation, but again, I have a
habit of using ftp-installation on all computers not having CD-ROM. :)
Supported SUN architectures:
- Sun4c (Sparc 1, 1+, 2, IPC, IPX, SLC, ELC)
- Sun4m (Sparc Classic, LC, LX, 4, 5 (except 5/170), 10, 20)
- Sun4d (SparcCenter 1000/2000)
