Xfree86 (v4.1.0-15 after errata upgrade) using RedHat 7.2:
When I used RedHat 7.2 with the mentioned errata the X came up just
fine using the default detections and 800x600 LCD monitor.
XFree86 considerations using RedHat 6.2:
During the installation the X did not get the configuration correct. Even though it did
detect the correct video Neomagic chip, and I choose 800x600 LCD monitor it failed the tests.
So I boot the computer after the installation and as root I run:
"Xconfigurator".
This detect the Neomagic (it says NM2093 [MagicGraph 128ZV]).
I choose "Custom" monitor, and indicate:
"Super VGA, 1024x768 @87Hz interlaced, 800x600 @56 Hz"
regarding the horisontal sync range of the monitor.
And when it asks for vertical sync rate, I choose "70-90".
Then I select "Don't probe" and tells it that I got 1Mb videoRAM.
I say "No clockchip Setting" and select "16 bit, 800x600" resolution.
The screen looks a bit fuzzy when X starts, but when the desktop comes up, everything looks fine. :)
This makes my XF86Config look like this.
(As you see I have added the "option=accel" in the Device-section.
