Tips: "Accessing a site with Java causes Netscape to freeze."
Problem: This error message can occure if you are using Windows NT 4.0 with service pack 3.0 installed together with Netscape Communicator 4.x or Netscape Navigator 4.0x.
Cause: Windows NT 4.0 Service Pack 3 contains a bug in win32k.sys that will cause the GDI to throw an incorrect value that will lock up the Java Virtual
Machines of both Netscape Communicator/Navigator and IE when the JVMs are initialized if the system is running at true color depth.
Solution: To permanently fix the problem, upgrade to NT 4.0 Service Pack 4.
If you yet, for compability reasons, can not upgrade to Service Pack 4 or for any reason wish to remain at Service Pack 3 you can download the GetAdmin hotfix which includes the Java hotfix. The filenames are:
admnfixi.exe : For Intel platform
admnfixa.exe : For Alpha platform
NB: Read the text-files for instructions about installation! And don't install this fix if you already have installed Service Pack 4.
